Maine People’s Alliance works on many different issues.  They are very active in advocating and organizing around reducing pollutants in the environment especially in water sources such as rivers and therefore the ocean.

The Ocean Conservancy protects wildlife, reforms government for better ocean stewardship, restores sustainable fisheries, and advocates for marine protected areas.  A marine protected area would be like a national park of the ocean and is how I first heard about the Ocean conservancy.

A local organization based in Blue Hill, Maine dedicated to scientific research and education on the impacts of pollutants on marine life and to protecting the health and biodiversity of the marine environment for future generations.

These eco-pirates will actually ram and sink illegal whaling vessels.  They also protect seals and dolphins.
